本书是一本戏曲学院国际文化交流系戏曲专业知识中英文对照读本，适用于该系戏曲知识初学者。中国戏曲学院国际文化交流系是国内*个培养以”国际文化交流”为核心，能够熟练运用英语，通晓以戏曲艺术为代表的中西方文化艺术，具备跨文化交流能力的人才，近年来该系师生为传播戏曲所做出的成绩在国际上声名远播。该英语教材就是为迎合该系特色课程而编写。内容列举中国九大戏曲剧种渊源、特色、著名艺术家等概况，简单介绍，配以英文翻译并标明具体术语、特色语言的单词解释，着力培养学生基本的阅读、具体单词、词组用法和语言运用能力，旨在为他们今后传播中国戏曲、讲好中国故事，传承、传播优秀的中国传统文化打下坚实的语言基础。
