本书为《现代大学英语精读1》（第二版）的随身学版，书中的课文录音和生词朗读由原来的随书光盘更换为外研随身学手机App，更加方便快捷。《现代大学英语精读1》（第二版）由北京外国语大学杨立民教授担任总主编，杨立民、徐克容、陆培敏编写，可供高等院校英语类专业一年级上学期使用。全书共16单元，其中第七单元和第十四单元为测试单元，便于教师考查学生的学习成效，系统检查知识积累情况。其余14个单元每单元由A、B两个选篇组成，选篇经典，练习丰富，涵盖词汇、语法翻译、口语、写作等全方面语言训练，同时兼顾人文素养的培养。
